POLICE have bailed a 29-year-old man from Alton, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is due back on bail on December 18, 2015, pending further enquiries.
The arrest followed a collision between a bicycle and a white Ford Transit van near the A31’s junction with Station Road, on Wednesday, August 12, at around 7.30pm,
Both carriageways on a section of the A31 near Bentley were closed for a short time while emergency services responded. The Surrey-bound side of the A31, which was closed while police concluded an examination of the collision scene for evidence, reopened in the early hours of Thursday.
The cyclist, 48-year-old Lee Martin from Basingstoke, was taken to hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
His family has been informed.
