SURREY Police were called to a house in Combe Lane, Witley, last Saturday night after more than 100 youths tried to gatecrash a private party Officers responded after receiving several calls from Combe Lane residents reporting large groups of rowdy youths gathering in the area just after 8pm. When police turned up they found between 150 and 200 young people in Combe Lane attempting to gatecrash the party. Around 20 West Surrey police officers were involved in breaking up the gangs and making sure they were moved on. Officers at Guildford and Haslemere and colleagues from the British Transport Police were alerted as further disturbances were reported on the trains and on the platform. Once youths arrived at Haslemere and Guildford, their journey was monitored to make sure they did not cause further problems. A group of around 60 youths who travelled to Haslemere were believed to be heading towards another private party in West Sussex but their progress was monitored by officers and dispersed before they reached their destination. A number of penalty notices for disorder were given out throughout the evening. Two 17-year-old males were arrested after fighting outside Witley train station. Neither teenager suffered any injuries and they were both later issued with £80 penalty notices.
