WHITEHILL police are clamping down on underage drinkers after Alldays convenience store reported an increase in the number of young people trying to buy alcohol.
The Alldays store in Chalet Hill has been inundated with teenagers trying to buy alcohol from its store in the last week.
Sergeant Howard Lovegrove of Whitehill police said: ÒI would urge parents to supervise their children further so that they are not trying to buy alcohol or getting someone who is over 18 to buy it for them.
ÒAlldays have been turning away children which they know are underage but the children have been very rude to the staff.Ó
Whitehill police have now named the convenience store as its Òpriority hotspotÓ for targeting underage drinkers.
Sgt Lovegrove told The Herald: ÒWe are in a position to confiscate alcohol from children that we believe are underage and we hope that now the school holidays have passed the problem will be reduced.Ó
