POLICE and Crime Commissioner Simon Hayes is proposing that the public pay more in their council tax to cover policing.

And the commissioner warned that the time will come when reduced policing, resulting from the Government financing cuts to the force, will put communities in danger.

The police presence is an emotive issue in Whitehill and Bordon, with some councillors wanting an increase in visible officers on the ground. Whitehill and Bordon county and district councillor Adam Carew said efficiency savings in this economic climate are welcome provided they are "not made at the expense of vital services".
