SURREY Police have come out fighting over the Government's decision to cap its budget this year, warning ministers that only an immediate U-turn would prevent implementation of frontline staff cuts starting this week and a judicial review being pursued.

Fewer officers on the streets, less safe communities and fewer criminals brought to justice are in prospect, the chairman of Surrey Police Authority, Peter Williams, has predicted.
