THE Hampshire police have withdrawn their objection which has been holding up plans which would make it impossible for heavy lorries from the west of Alton to reach the industrial estates in Mill Lane and Wilsom Road by driving through the town centre.

This means that residents of streets such as Butts Road, Ashdell Road and Borovere Lane can look forward to a reduction in noise and pollution in the new year.
