ALTON’S neighbourhood policing team will be in Alton town centre next month to offer crime prevention advice about burglary.

Uniformed officers will speak to burglary victims and the public on Tuesday, June 7, to address any concerns they may have, while also distributing crime prevention literature.

The activity is part of an ongoing effort to address “non-dwelling burglaries” in rural areas of East Hampshire as this has been identified previously as one of the district priorities.

On June 7, the team will be in Alton between 10am and 2pm. Officers will also speak to people living in Winchester Road at Four Marks, as well as villagers in Selborne and Kingsley.

Chief Inspector Beth Pirie said: “This will be an invaluable opportunity for our local communities to raise concerns they may have about burglary, especially in rural areas. While burglary levels have remained low in East Hampshire over the last year, we recognise that it is an ongoing area of concern for residents, especially when the theft of specialised items like machinery in rural locations can have a significant impact for victims.”
