POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a family caravan was stolen from a site on the B3006 Selborne Road, near Alton, this week.
The theft took place between 3pm Monday and 3pm on Tuesday, according to the police.
The caravan, a white, four-berth ES Lunar Clubman, was parked at Hartley Park Farm and was all set for its owners to head off on holiday on Friday.
It had been checked around 3pm on Monday, and at around the same time the following day a friend, who has a motor home parked up beside the stolen van, rang to ask where the caravan was.
The distraught owners, who do not wish to be named, have only owned the three-year-old caravan for a year and said it is “mint condition”. It had just been serviced and had new tyres, ready to go off to the New Forest for a birthday treat this weekend – a first outing of the year.
The stolen caravan, which is roughly seven metres long, has a Caravan Club sticker on it, a service sticker left of the tow hook, and the remains of a pink Scotts Farm sticker in one of the darkened windows, which sport beige curtains.
The caravan has plenty locks, a wheel brace, and a tracker alarm system, but confusion surrounds the fact that the alarm didn’t sound to alert the couple that the caravan was being moved.
The police would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious on Monday or Tuesday, or who may have seen or heard anything since relating to the incident. Call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
