POLICE hunting a serial burglar say they have reason to be believe he could hail from Petersfield. A raft of break-ins have been reported around the Bordon and Alton area in recent weeks. Last Thursday alone, it is thought that the suspect burgled four properties in Farringdon, Ropley and two homes in Wyck, between Kingsley and Binsted. One of the victims told The Herald: "We didn't realise for some time what had happened. There was no obvious sign of entry or exit – the perpetrator is obviously very clever and tidy. They know what they are doing and with that, can bide some time to get away. It is incredibly unnerving. "The police have been fantastic. They were here within 20 minutes and were everything you could hope for and more. Considering that they were so busy that evening- they really have been brilliant." The man is also suspected of carrying out burglaries in East Worldham, Bentworth and Froyle and has a penchant for jewellery and silver. Advice is that he should not be approached or challenged. Hampshire Police believe he travels to Alton and Bordon to carry out the burglaries and uses a variety of vehicles. He is described as white, approximately 30 years old and 5ft 11ins tall. He is of slim build and smart appearance. Call 0845 04545 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
