POLICE have discovered that a drug sold as heroin which led to more than 10 people being hospitalised at the weekend actually contains a strong sedative which is potentially lethal if injected.
An urgent warning has been issued to drug users after tests confirmed that the drug believed to have been taken by those who fell ill contains alprazolam.
If inhaled or injected, alprazolam can cause the heart rate to slow down which can result in death.
