POLICE have now named the woman who died in a tragic collision with a car in Turk Street on the afternoon of Tuesday July 9.
She was Winifred Armstrong Dawson, 85, of Alton. Mrs Dawson was struck by a Renault Clio which she was directing forward in a parking bay. Tragically, the car was driven by her husband Eric, 89.
The grief-stricken family of Mrs Dawson have appealed for privacy but have released the following statement:
ÒIt is impossible to describe the grief felt by the family, following this tragic accident.
ÒWynne was a loving and much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by us all.
ÒEric is being supported through this difficult time as best we may. He is very appreciative of the kindness, good wishes and offers of help received from family and friends. However, he hopes that others will respect his need for privacy regarding this personal tragedy.Ó
