POLICE are appealing for information following a fatal collision on a country lane at Hartley Mauditt, near Alton, on Monday afternoon.

Officers were called at 4.40pm to a two-vehicle collision on Hartley Lane involving a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a Peugeot Boxer van.

The vehicles had been travelling in opposite directions when they collided head-on.

The driver of the Corsa, a 40-year-old man from Reading, was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers.

The driver of the van and his passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to North Hampshire Hospital as a precaution.
