FARNHAM Police Station is set to disappear for good before Christmas, after demolition of the iconic 1960s' building got under way this week.

Hoardings were put in place around the police station in Long Bridge in June after Churchill Retirement Living gained planning consent to replace it with a block of 50 sheltered apartments.

And Capital Demolition Ltd took formal possession of the site on November 3 and hopes to complete the building's demolition in eight weeks.

In a letter to residents, Roy Barnes of Capital Demolition Ltd said: "A certain amount of noise, dust and cross vibration may be unavoidable during most demolition processes.

"But we will use our best efforts to ensure that you are caused the minimum of inconvenience for the duration of our contract."
