FARNHAM Maltings will host a hustings debate for the South West Surrey constituency on Friday, June 2, with all parliamentary candidates invited to attend ahead of the upcoming general election.
The hustings will give voters an opportunity to hear what each of the candidates are offering to best meet the needs of the constituency and hear more about the policies of each political party represented.
After lively and thought-provoking debates for the 2015 general election and last year’s EU referendum, Farnham Maltings is continuing to develop its community-focused work around civic engagement.
Director Gavin Stride said: “We’re passionate about promoting a healthier and more inclusive set of communities in Farnham and, as part of that, we’re delighted to propel conversation about our local and national political landscapes.
“We want the public to ask crucial and probing questions so that we can continue to thoughtfully debate the things that matter to all of us.”
Candidates will answer a selection of questions which will be submitted before the event. These will be chosen by an independent panel to reflect a range of topics on a local and a national scale.
This event is free to attend but tickets will be required. Tickets can be obtained from farnham
maltings.com or by calling the box office on 01252 745444.
Questions must be submitted in advance (along with a name and seat number for the event) by email to [email protected] or in person at the Maltings’ box office before 4pm on the day of the hustings.
