Name: David Buxton – Liberal Democrat

What do you love about East Hampshire?

I love that it is mixture of rural, towns, villages and national park with a vast amount of history. I particularly enjoy countryside walks, farmers markets, delightful pubs and restaurants. It is amazing to see so many dedicated volunteers working for local charities and community groups across East Hampshire.

What do you think the biggest issue facing residents is?

Stopping Brexit! Residents want a People’s Vote as they have clearly expressed that the Brexit crisis is so serious.

In a sentence, why do you deserve the job?

I want to be East Hampshire’s local champion for residents locally and nationally, stopping Brexit and fighting for more funding and investment in our local schools, health and social care, housing and environment.

What book or books should everyone read?

I absolutely love Horrible Histories, it’s so easy to read and to talk about!

Where did you last go on holiday?

North Norfolk.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a lawyer but my teachers said I couldn’t because of my deafness. I proved them wrong as I studied law as part of my MBA.

When was the last time you used public transport?

Last Thursday I went to work by bus.

If someone wanted to eat out in East Hampshire, where would you recommend?

I love steaks, so I would recommend Frango Grill in Alton.

What do you hope to get for Christmas?

I certainly hope that I will get a new iPhone!

What do you do to switch off from politics?

My family and friends are the most important part of my life, I enjoy spending time together with them – I find it refreshing to relax and reflect.
