THE South West Surrey branch of the European Movement were out in force campaigning in Farnham on Sunday, handing out leaflets and talking to passers-by.

Farnham resident and branch chairman John Gaskell said: “It was great to meet with local people, many of whom were very pleased to find a local group working to keep us in the EU.

“We were delighted to add 24 new names to the branch email list for regular updates on future local events.”

The next meeting of the South West Surrey branch will be held on Wednesday, January 3, at 7.30pm in The Hop Blossom pub, Long Garden Walk, Farnham. New members will be welcome.

The European Movement has been in existence since the late 1940s. Winston Churchill was a founder member. The organisation campaigned for a more integrated Europe.

The European Movement UK is a member of the international organisation. Since the EU referendum in June 2016, it has been campaigning to keep the UK in the EU. It is open to members of all political parties, and none, who support the EU and want to stop Brexit.
