VOTERS in South West Surrey could go to the polls not once, but twice in the next two months, after Prime Minister Theresa May called a snap general election on Tuesday morning.
The proposed parliamentary vote on June 8 would come hot on the heels of the county council elections just a month earlier on May 4.
Explaining the reasons for the snap election, the Prime Minister said Britain needed certainty, stability and strong leadership following the EU referendum.
The House of Commons will vote on the proposed election on Wednesday.
If agreed by MPs, the June 8 poll will see the reigning Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt bid for a fourth term as MP for South West Surrey.
