HASLEMERE Conservatives have selected Richard Hampson as their prospective candidate for next year’s Surrey County Council elections.
Mr Hampson, 38, is married with two young children and a spaniel.
His interests include rugby, cricket and the arts and he has recently taking up cooking. The former Army officer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan now works part-time for the Army Reserves while bringing up his children.
He is also a committee member for the Surrey branch of the Army Benevolent Fund.
As the prospective county councillor he has pledged to to be “a hard working representative who listens to the town’s residents and gets things done.”
M Hampson told The Herald: “Haslemere is a fantastic place and I am really enjoying getting out at talking to people about what they want for the future of their town.
“Whether its parking, schools or the state of the roads, there are many areas that the county council impacts on Haslemere, we need a strong voice in County Hall to get the very best for the town.”
