Alton town mayor Cllr Annette Eyre has praised the enthusiasm and commitment of residents and hopes they will continue to work with the town council for the good of Alton.

In her address to the Alton town annual electors’ meeting at the Alton Assembly Rooms on March 18, she said: “I am constantly inspired by the vibrant passion that flows through every aspect of life here in Alton.

“Serving as both your mayor and a town councillor has given me a front-row seat to the remarkable energy our community brings to everything it does.

“It truly is a privilege to be part of a town where people express their enthusiasm so openly and channel it into creating positive change.

“Over the past year I have had the pleasure of meeting countless extraordinary individuals, from those who have dedicated themselves to causes close to their hearts to those who joined a group because of a friend’s encouragement, or found support within a community and chose to give back.

“Time and again I see the familiar faces who tirelessly devote their time to Alton, always offering a smile even when the days get tough. Their commitment is the backbone of our town and their spirit is contagious.”

Cllr Eyre stressed that the partnership between the electors and those they chose to represent them was crucial.

She said: “As we navigate the opportunities and challenges before us, I want to assure you that the council and I are committed to transparent and inclusive decision-making.

“We will continue to seek out your opinions, encourage open dialogue and involve you in the processes that affect our community.

“Your input is invaluable and I encourage everyone to engage with the council, whether through public meetings, community forums, or simply by reaching out directly.

“Together we can find creative solutions and ensure our town remains a place where everyone feels heard and valued.

“Thank you for your ongoing support and trust. I am excited to see what we can accomplish together in the coming year.”
