VOTERS across Farnham will go to the polls next Thursday (August 18) to select new representatives in four council wards across the town.

The largest by-election will take place in the Surrey County Council division of Farnham South, where an electorate of around 10,000 people will vote on a replacement for David Munro, the Tory councillor who resigned in June to concentrate on his new role as Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey.

By-elections will also take place in Mr Munro’s borough council ward of Shortheath and Boundstone, as well as Paddy Blagden’s borough and town council wards of Farnham Castle after the former Mayor of Farnham also resigned in June on health grounds.

Polling stations will open between 7am and 10pm on Thursday, August 18. Registered voters should have already received polling cards, while ballot papers and Postal Vote Statements were sent to registered postal voters last week.

Postal votes must be returned by 10pm on polling day.
