WAVERLEY deputy leader Julia Potts has confirmed borough council leader Robert Knowles is stepping down in May.

Rumours circulated Miss Potts had been elected at a confidential Conservative group meeting last month pending resolution at the May annual council meeting. She told The Herald: “I can confirm councillor Knowles will be retiring as leader in May. He remains leader until that time, and will then continue his role representing Haslemere East and Grayswood.”
