WAVERLEY’S deputy leader has called for some “contribution” from South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt – in hopes of cementing plans for The Borough.

Councillor Paul Follows (pictured) told the Herald senior representatives of all three councils met earlier this week in a “very productive session” on highways issues.

He recognised that while Waverley Borough Council was committed to meeting other councils to agree a clear and joint direction within January, “more concrete plans require both time and funding”.

Cllr Follows said: “Now the election is over, we would of course welcome any further contribution from our MP and look forward to him and his colleagues in central government making the work of local government easier on this subject through the promised funding increases to local government and the promised national commitment to better air quality.”

It is hoped that by the end of January, official plans for The Borough will be revealed by both Surrey County Council and Waverley Borough Council.

But at the moment the extent of these plans is unknown.

Surrey County Council was contacted for a comment, but had not replied by the time the Herald went to print.
