COUNCIL chiefs have agreed to progress plans for a de-facto congestion charge in Farnham to tackle the town's chronic air pollution issues.
Under Waverley Borough Council's proposed Low Emission Zone (LEZ), owners of the most polluting vehicles will be fined for driving in the town centre.
More than 200 cities and towns across Europe already have an LEZ in place including centres such as Brighton, Nottingham, Durham, Norwich, Oxford and much of Greater London.
