The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal Appeal is under way and runs until November 13, the eve of Remembrance Sunday.

Colonel Jimmy Jack, who runs the Bramshott and Liphook appeal, said: "Our Forces continue to suffer casualties in Afghanistan. Some 341 were killed at the last count and many more were wounded besides.

"This means more disabled ex-service personnel and bereaved families need help, provision of adequate medical and surgical care, support for families of the dead and wounded, and provision of legal advice as well as representation at inquests and awards."
