WITH nominations now being accepted for the upcoming by-election called to fill two vacant seats on Whitehill Town Council, advice is being given to those who would like to vote by post.

Would-be councillors can put themselves forward for election to the two Whitehill wards, Deadwater and Hogmoor, until 4pm on Monday, August 7.

East Hampshire District Council is managing the election and nomination papers are available from its elections team on 01730 234370 or through the website www.easthants.

gov.uk/elections/whitehill-town-council-election.

If the election is contested, polling will take place on Monday, September 4, between 7am and 10pm.

Electors for these wards should note that if they would like to vote by post or by proxy, instead of visiting their polling station, they may apply to do so. Forms can be downloaded from www.yourvotematt ers.co.uk. Applications for postal votes must be received by 5pm on Thursday, August 17, and applications for proxy votes must be received by 5pm on Thursday, August 24. Postal votes will be sent out from Monday, August 21.

If you are not on the electoral register visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote, and register by 11.59pm on Wednesday, August 16.

Whitehill Town Council has 15 seats.

The political make-up is currently 10 Conservative councillors, three Whitehill & Bordon Community Party councillors and two vacancies.
