FARNHAM has itself a new pin up boy – and he’s feline fine!

But with no underwear or aftershave adverts in sight, this national pin up is a little different to the stereotypes – as he is a cat, called Alan.

Alan was found stray, in a poor state and riddled with fleas and worms, as well as being undernourished.

And as well as suffering with poor health, Alan also had to have his teeth removed as his gums were so infected.

But despite being toothless, he has now found fame as a pin up for a national organisation, with Alan now the face of the Cats Protection National Lottery.

The stray was taken into Cathcart and Winns in Farnham in February this year, and with no chip in his neck, they did not know what to do with him so called Farnham and Wey Valley Cats Protection.

However, Cats Protection also had no luck in finding his owner despite advertising him in their lost and found section.

After being diagnosed with feline immunodeficiency virus after coming into their care, Alan was consigned to a perpetual life indoors.

The charity also faced further difficulty finding him a home due to him being a black cat, notoriously the hardest to home and in care the longest.

Described as a “very affectionate friendly boy, although a little nervous and wary”, Alan eventually got his big break when a couple who wanted to give a “difficult to home cat” a chance took him under their wing.

Now living like a king in his new surroundings, Alan’s story didn’t end there.

Farnham and Wey Valley Cats Protection was asked to submit photographs to find the new face of the national Cats Protection Lottery and their rehoming officer immediately thought of Alan’s good luck story.

After fending off other entries, feline favourite Alan waspicked to front the lottery campaign and now proudly appears on their nationwide adverts.

To support the work of Farnham and Wey Valley Cats Protection, a Hallowe’en fundraiser is being held at Badshot Lea Working Mens Club on October 29. For more details, call 01252 334644 or e-mail [email protected].
