A JUDGE took a compassionate view when sentencing a woman this week who had been found guilty of stabbing her husband in the neck while he lay in bed asleep.
Yvonne Cozens had been remanded for reports after being found guilty at the end of a four-day trial last month of unlawfully wounding her husband, Clive, in November last year.
But after reading the reports on Cozens (35), of Bridge Road, Haslemere, Judge Derek Inman indicated that he thought the matter could be dealt with by putting Cozens on probation.
The judge had been told that Cozens was expecting a baby in the near future and he said he thought it preferable that the child should be born out of custody.
He sentenced Cozens to a two-year community rehabilitation order, formerly known as probation.
