HASLEMERE will have a carnival procession through the town to mark the 90th birthday of the Queen in April.
The carnival on Thursday, April 21, is planned to coincide with the annual celebration of St George’s Day which takes place two days later.
Haslemere Festival chairman Hamish Donaldson said: “The occasion will be celebrated with a carnival procession from Lion Lane to the High Street followed by a tea party in the High Street. The procession of floats, vintage cars and walking groups will be divided into sections to recognise the decades of the Queen’s life – from the 1920s to the 2010s.”
The carnival plan will be launched officially next month at a meeting of interested parties at The Georgian Hotel, on Wednesday, January 13, from 6pm.
Those able to attend should notify Don Stacey by email: [email protected] – there is also a downloadable carnival application form online at www.haslemerechamber.co.uk
The form should be handed in at the launch meeting.
