ANOTHER hurdle has been cleared in Whitehill Town CouncilÕs quest to create a skateboard park for Bordon and WhitehillÕs youngsters.

Although they have some concerns, neither Bordon Infant School nor Bordon Junior School has objected to the proposals to create the park in Budds Lane. The town council can now press ahead with its negotiations with the MoD to lease the land.

Don Mayes explained to the council on Monday that the head teachers and the chairman of the board of governors of the junior school expressed some concerns regardingpolicing of the park and whether it could be a success without damage to local properties.

ÒWe were unable to give cast iron guarantees, but it will be monitored and because there are responsible persons involved with setting this up, it will be almost self-policing,Ó he said.

ÒBut apart from a few concerns they were happy so we will have our skateboard park. We have approached the MoD to discuss it with them further.Ó

The finances for the scheme are largely secure but the question of where to put it has been a headache for the council.

Councillors praised Mr Mayes for his work on the project and expressed their pleasure at the news that negotiations can begin.
