PROPOSALS to fix Grayshott’s parking problems will be put to the public at an exhibition in the village this week.
With no parking restrictions in any of Grayshott’s council-owned car parks, or on its main roads, the village is clogged with cars all day. Businesses say a higher turn-over of cars would allow more customers to visit is shops and give the economy a boost.
East Hampshire District Council has drawn up a number of possible solutions to the problem and will present them at the exhibition at the village hall, on Thursday April 6, from 11am until 7pm. Feedback is sought from residents and businesses on a range of ways to help get Grayshott moving.
EHDC leader Ferris Cowper said: “There are three council car parks in Grayshott and none of them have parking restrictions at the moment. There are also no restrictions on the main roads through the village.
“As a result these parking spaces fill up quickly and many people use them to park all day. We want residents and workers to park easily in the village, but we also want to keep space for customers to visit our fantastic local businesses. We need people to be able to pop in and shop in Grayshott.”
