TWO Farnham jewellers have been raided by gangs in the space of a week.
On Tuesday afternoon a gang of four stole £100,000 worth of Rolex watches from Alexanders in Castle Street. Staff were sprayed with red dye then one of the gang used a hammer to smash a display case.
And on Wednesday last week three Asians appeared to use a child as a distraction while they stole "thousands of pounds worth" of rings and earrings from John R Fox in Downing Street.
A woman and a child kept a sales assistant talking while another woman and a man forced open display cabinets. The theft took place at about 2-50 pm.
The man was described as Asian, in his late 20s or early 30s and was between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 8ins tall with short black hair and a round face. He was wearing blue tracksuit bottoms and a sports top.
The two women were also described as Asian and both were wearing black headscarves. The woman who spoke to the sales assistant had four gold front teeth.
The robbery at Alexanders took place between 2-30 pm and 3 pm. The gang were black and aged around 17-20. One was 6ft tall and wearing a balaclava, another wore a black and cream check scarf over his mouth.
Tim Mallett, who was having a beer outside tthe Coach and Horses pub, said the gang were in a grey left-hand drive car, possibly a Volkswagen Polo.
"I thought it looked suspicious so I took the car's registration number," he said. "About 45 seconds later they came running back and into the car, followed by another man in a black balaclava wielding a claw hammer. The last one came out with a holdall."
