ALTON rail users could benefit from the introduction of a new half-hourly service combined with a £1.4m improvement package at Alton station if the Stagecoach Group is successful in its bid for the new South West Trains franchise.
Stagecoach has outlined a £3.5 billion investment proposal for the 20-year franchise which aims to raise the capacity of the network by 67 per cent.
