INDEPENDENT traders on one of Petersfield's main shopping streets this week welcomed news that a cash injection of around £30,000 is set to be spent on improvements.

Lavant Street, which is home to many independently-run shops, restaurants and hair salons will be given the makeover, in a bid to make it more attractive to shoppers.

The move is in line with The Petersfield Partnership's progressive plans and the makeover will be partially funded by a grant from SEEDA.
