PROPOSALS to build more than 8,000 new homes across the borough by 2031 to meet Government targets - many on greenfield sites - will go out to public consultation early next month. At an extraordinary meeting of Waverley's full council on Tuesday night, members approved the Local Plan Consultation Strategy, which suggest four possible housing scenarios to accommodate up to 470 new homes a year. Three would see between 1,800 and 3,400 houses built at Dunsfold Park  and from 1,200 to 4,500 homes on greenfield sites, with Farnham and Cranleigh bearing the brunt. Waverley is also proposing removing Elstead, Chiddingfold, Milford and Witley from the green belt and changing their boundaries to free up potential housing space in and around the largest villages.
