PUBLICANS in Petersfield have been given a new weapon in their fight against troublemakers.

Radios have been issued to help publicans warn each other of rowdy customers as part of the Pub Watch Scheme. The radios will enable landlords to talk to each other instantly in a ring-round system.

ÒAs soon as someone shows the potential for causing problems in the town their descriptions and names, if they are known to the publicans, can be brought to the attention of other premises,Ó said Sgt Claire Winter.

ÒProactive actions can then be taken to prevent these people going elsewhere and continuing to be a nuisance.Ó

Publicans have agreed that troublemakers who have been banned from one pub will be banned from them all.
