SOUTH Western Railway representatives joined 60 pupils of St Bartholomew’s Primary School at Haslemere station for a ’Try the Train’ experience.
Surrey Hills to South Downs community rail partnership masterminded the project to give Year 6 pupils confidence ahead of their daily ‘commutes’ to Bohunt secondary school, Liphook.
The CRP chair, Haslemere county councillor Nikki Barton, said: “Encouraging Haslemere pupils to take the train safely and to think more about how they get to the station, using more sustainable transport, is our key priority. We look forward to rolling out Try the Train with all primary schools. ”
St Bart’s head Charles Beckerson said: “We are doing all we can to design a rich organic curriculum rooted in the needs of our community. Many thanks to South Western Railway and the the community rail partnership for supporting our school.”
