CHILDREN and staff at Badshot Lea Village Infant School celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday last week with a day of fun activities and events.

Everyone looked fabulous as they came to school dressed in red, white and blue, and the school was decorated with flags from all corners of the British Isles.

Children made crowns and table decorations in preparation for the afternoon festivities.

And in the afternoon, they gathered on the playground for a ‘street party’, where there was food galore, kindly donated by the parents.

A rendition of the National Anthem got proceedings under way as everyone had a wonderful time.

Headteacher Gemma Ball said: “It was lovely for the whole school to come together to celebrate such an historic moment.

“Many of our children are too young to remember the last royal celebration, so it was important that they got the chance wish Her Majesty a very happy birthday and to understand the reasons for the wonderful celebrations across the country.

“School council members took part in a Clean for the Queen litter pick in the village of Badshot Lea to make sure the school was gleaming for the special party.”
