PUPILS at St John’s School in Churt have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the creation of ‘Hamlet of the Sowey Hills’.

Hamlet is part of the Haslemere Confederation’s project, Haslemere Hogs, which has asked local artists and schools to decorate 60 fibre glass hogs that will be displayed throughout the area for approximately three months from next month.

Following the display period, to be known as The Hog Parade, the hogs will be sold off with the proceeds going to the Mayor of Haslemere, Sahran Abeysundara’s charities - Positive Action, Action Medical Research for Children, The Kaleidoscope Trust and The Haslemere Penny Ha’Penny Trust.

Headteacher Ginnie Gregory said: “This has been a wonderfully creative project. Every child in school has painted an aspect of what it is like living in Churt and the surrounding area.

“We were incredibly lucky to have our hog-painting led by talented mum, Olivia Harmer, who ensured all our pupils ad opportunities to contribute to this whole school vision.”
