PUPILS at Potters Gate School have been learning about Fairtrade as part of Fairtrade fortnight and have enjoyed sessions exploring the different types of Fairtrade food available and even tasting some at their Fairtrade break.
Jemma Butterfield, religious education leader, said: “It was enlightening for the children to learn about how Fairtrade helps ensure that the world can meet people’s needs today without compromising the needs of people in the future.
“All the children seemed to love their Fairtrade activities over the fortnight – especially those involving chocolate. It really made our children consider whether the world is a fair place and what they can do to help.”
The children learned about the way Fairtrade assists farmers financially and how Fairtrade enables producers to invest in their communities to provide better healthcare, immunisation programmes and access to water.
