CREATIVE young pupils at The Pilgrims' Way Primary School in Farnham performed a colourful Chinese dragon dance, accompanied by Chinese drumming, to welcome The Year of the Horse.

Children from the reception class created the multi-coloured dragon mask from paper and ribbons, as part of their studies on different cultures from around the world.

They learned how the Chinese New Year is celebrated with a variety of activities, including making traditional paper lanterns in red to bring good luck.

While exploring the Chinese zodiac, they discovered that children born in the Year of the Horse will be very hardworking, independent, ambitious and they expect to succeed and will work on and on until a job is finished.

A school spokesman said:"The children were excited to join in our celebrations and had a lot of fun learning about the Chinese New Year."
