PUPILS at Ditcham Park School were excited to learn that the school was in the direct flight path of the Battle of Britain Flypast from Goodwood last week which marked the heroism of the Second World War flyers 75 years on.

After the take-off time was delayed by two hours because of the weather, pupils and staff gathered on the playing field with eyes scanning the skies for the first sight of these amazing planes.

Eventually, two aircraft were spotted on the skyline – one Spitfire and one Hurricane. The youngest children waved flags and the school was thrilled to have been part of this historic event.
