CHILDREN from Bentworth School have helped out at the Alton Foodbank.

This year the foodbank packed and distributed more than 120 Christmas food boxes for families referred to it.

Manager Ian Dane said: “This has been made possible by the generosity of local people and businesses who have donated food items and money to the foodbank.

“Much of the box packing has been carried out by pupils from Bentworth School and staff from the Newbury Building Society.

“Not only have we had help with box packing, many local schools and businesses have organised special food collections for us as well.

"The spirit of Christmas is well and truly alive in Alton and the surrounding villages.”
