AS the Olympics draws ever closer, children at Liss Junior School have put their communication skills to the test as part of special London 2012 themed activities.

Ensuring that children can communicate during the Games and beyond, pupils aged seven to 11 completed three London 2012 tasks based around thinking, talking and teamwork.

Aimed at boosting children's speaking and listening skills as part of the Communication Triathlon from Openreach with support from I CAN, the children's communication charity, the Communication Triathlon is part of Get Set, the official London 2012 education programme.

Complete with its own opening and closing ceremonies to the events last week, the children completed three interactive and fun-filled activities and received class certificates for their success in the triathlon.

Heather Green, assistant headteacher at Liss Junior School, said: "We thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Communication Triathlon and children have had lots of fun taking part in the London 2012 themed activities.

"These activities have helped to develop their communication skills, which are so essential for learning and for the rest of their lives. Our 2012 Communication Triathlon has been a great success and the children thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this."
