The week got off to an exciting start as children dressed in bright colours to take part in a ‘Be Bright Be Seen’ day. This was introduced by the school’s junior road safety officers in an assembly as children learned about dressing brightly when walking or cycling so that motorists can see them easily.
The pupils travel from a wide area, including Upton Grey, South Warnborough, the villages of Long Sutton and Well, as well as further afield from RAF Odiham. This presented a challenge in Walk to School Week and children and their families had to find creative ways to avoid driving to the school.
A party of children and parents met each morning in South Warnborough and walked across the fields to school.
The venture was so enjoyable and successful that it will continue every Friday.
Some children chose to ride to school on bikes and scooters as well as walk. One family even cycled all the way from RAF Odiham.
The week culminated with an art competition on the theme ‘Be Bright Be Seen’, which was won by Alexandra Buckland.
