A GROUP of year six pupils from Hale School got on their bikes last week to take their Bikeability test and ensure they were keeping safe on the roads.
Bikeability is a new scheme, which has replaces the previous Cycling Proficiency programme, designed to give youngsters the skills and confidence to cycle competently on today's roads.
Led by four instructors, the 20-strong groups of ten and 11 year olds from Hale completed the course last Friday.
There are three different levels for children to achieve; level one teaches basic bike handling skills in a controlled environment away from roads, level two covers cycling on planned routes on minor roads and level three makes sure the cyclists are able to manage all conditions of road traffic.
