CAMELSDALE Primary School held its annual junior market day with the help of Metro Bank Guildford.

Metro Bank has been supporting the school’s work on developing financial capability and ran a series of Money Matters lessons with year three pupils.

Market day saw Metro Bank loan all 120 junior children £2 on submission of a business plan – and the children used their loans to organise stalls to make a profit from the seed money.

The event raised more than £444 with money going to charity as well as to buy new play equipment.

Headteacher Sarah Palmer said: “Market day is a popular event in the school calendar.

“It is important to teach the children about money and we are grateful to Metro Bank for their huge support in making learning about money in real life.

“Market Day allows the children to develop their team work, organisational and creative thinking skills. We certainly have some up-and-coming business leaders in our midst.”
