ALTON Convent School is proud of its status as an international school and the enriched educational experience that it offers to students in Alton and its sister schools around the globe.
Most recently, five students from year nine and year 10 benefited from an immersive cultural experience in Colombia, as part of the school’s exchange programme. The pupils relished the opportunity to visit a number of towns in the region and to participate in carnival festivities.
The delegation attended the school carnival with colourful displays and traditional music in the grand school amphitheatre. The street carnival was equally impressive with vibrant floats and troupes of dancers in traditional costumes.
The students also experienced the Colombian approach to education, at their sister school Buen Consejo College and two other schools. The exchange created what is hoped will be lifelong memories and firm friendships for all involved, said a school spokesman.
Alton Convent’s pre-prep pupils were equally delighted to receive a very special parcel which returned with the students from Colombia. The ‘magical’ package included a dolly dressed in their school uniform, a picture and a lovely letter. The children are now eagerly creating their own spring picture to send to Colombia along with a photograph of their toys.
* Alton Covent will host an open day on May 21, from 10am to 1pm. For more details, call 01420 82070 or e-mail [email protected].
