YEAR five pupils at Bordon Junior School stepped back in time on Monday, when they celebrated VE Day wearing Second World War-era costumes.

The pupils have been studying what life was like for children their age in the war years. They experienced Neville Chamberlain's outbreak-of-war broadcast, they were evacuated on the Watercress Line, they dressed up, cooked on rations, sang wartime songs, and enjoyed a street party.

Headteacher Michele Frost said: "It was a brilliant way to bring learning to life for all our pupils."
