ST Nicholas’ School pupils recently visited the Victoria and Albert Museum to see the Frida Kahlo exhibition ‘Making Her Self Up’.

The exhibition presents an extraordinary personal collection belonging to the iconic Mexican artist, including many photographs, letters, medicines, clothing and even her prosthetic leg that have been locked away for 50 years following her death in 1954.

It shows how Kahlo crafted her own identity through dress, painting and photography and encourages visitors to reflect on their own heritage and identity.

“The pupils really enjoyed the vibrant exhibition and work carried out during the visit will be used in art lessons during the autumn term,” said St Nic’s head of art, Edwina Grosse.
