LORD Wandsworth College’s Amnesty Youth Group presented an enlightening talk on the international human rights charity’s ‘Write for Rights’ letter-writing campaign, supporting people around the world who have suffered injustice and whose freedom to speak is under threat.

Pupils Allie C (year 11) and Luke A (lower sixth) prepared and delivered the talk to year seven pupils, highlighting the case of Ni Yulan, a Chinese civil rights lawyer who continues to defend victims of forced eviction in Beijing despite facing repeated jail sentences and police beatings.

“Pupils showed sensitivity and compassion for a worthy cause,” said Jane Mitchell, head of the LWC Amnesty Youth Group.
